Can I install the Grip Control myself?

Yes, anyone can install the Grip Control.

How easy is the Grip Control to install?

The installation of the Grip Control can be extraordinarily easy to just easy.  There is a 1-5 rating system for the installation of various models. 

  • Install Rating-1 . . . .  Takes 10-15 sec, no tools i.e. Sig Sauer P320

  • Install Rating-2 . . . .  Takes 30 sec, may require an aid (pencil, paper clip, pin) – i.e. Glocks

  • Install Rating-3 . . . .  Takes 1-2 min, requires an aid – i.e. M&P 2.0

  • Install Rating-4 . . . .  Takes 5 min, requires higher level of dexterity  i.e. Sig Sauer P365

Does the gun need to be modified to install the Grip Control?

No, the original slide stop is removed and the Grip Control is installed in its place. The installation is very quick and easy and the Grip Control can be removed just as easily.

Does the installation of the Grip Control require any special tools?

Many of the kits require nothing at all, while some require a paper clip, a pen, or a small screwdriver. Some kits include a small assembly aid. No special tools are required.

Can the Grip Control break?

Anything can break, but we have not seen one break yet. That’s not to say it is not possible. It would be very unlikely for a failure under normal or even normal x 10, but still, anything can happen.

How strong is the Grip Control?

Very strong considering how small and simple the device is. In tests, 150 lbs of force was applied to the pad of the Grip Control without failing. Most folks can only exert 10-20 lbs of force on the pad with their thumb.

What is the Grip Control made out of?

The Grip Control is made from a super alloy called Aetheriumite®.  It is a proprietary development of BlackSteel in which certain elements and processes are combined to yield an alloy that offers high yield/tensile strength, extraordinary toughness, and exceptional resistance to wear, fatigue, and deformation. It will not react or gall with other metals.  Derivatives of this alloy are widely used in chemical, marine, aircraft, and machine tools as gears, bushings and bearings, pumps, and valves.

Does the Grip Control come with a warranty?

Every Grip Control comes with a lifetime warranty.

How does the Grip Control work?

The Grip Control replaces the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) slide lock and allows you to place your support-hand thumb on the folding pad. It allows for a much stronger grip to resist the recoil and maintain a higher level of gun control.

Does the Grip Control change how the gun functions?

It changes nothing at all.

Does the Grip Control change how the gun performs?

Good question, it does not change how the gun performance, but it will change how you perform.

Does the Grip Control come in other colors?

No, not at this time. We may be adding colors in the future.

How many different models are available?

There are currently 64 models available across 12 manufacturers. There will be a second round of releases later this year.

Will a gun with an installed Grip Control fit in my concealed carry holster?

Yes, many holsters require no adjustment while some require a slight adjustment. It really comes down to the gun and/or holster combination. We have yet to meet a holster that doesn’t work with the Grip Control.

Will a gun with an installed Grip Control fit in my duty holster?

I have a small hand, will it fit my hand?

Can I get the Grip Control for a lefty?

Yes, but it depends on the Manufacturer/Model.  Roughly 25%-ish of the available models will have a left option.  All Glocks, some Walthers, CZ, S&W and Taurus models.  See the model list

What is the finish on Grip Control?

It has a Cerakote finish. Cerakote is a ceramic durable finish that is widely used in the firearm industry.

Do I need to change my Grip?

Well if you are using the grip your granddaddy taught you (with all due respect) then most likely yes.  You’ll want a convert to a thumb forward grip, the way all modern day instructors teach.  NO TEA CUP grip! Forward Grip.
