The “Little Big Gun”…

Image

About a year ago I had a thought about building a P365 that shoots flat and does away with the recoil associated with smaller guns and shorter barrels.

I planned out the lower and upper portions and started plotting my course and have achieved almost all of the goals which is to build a P365 that shoots closer to a P320 and it’s not an easy task but sure is a fun one.

I really wanted (Still want and will eventually have a AXG Lower) a lower that has some Real-estate to hold onto so I started with a xMacro lower. I also wanted an upper that was longer then the normal xl.

For the upper I built out an FDEZ werx p365 xxl Sentinel Slide (That works with the stock Sig XL Barrel length which is 3.7)… Example Shalotek makes a XXL slide but you have to use their Barrel which I believe is 4.1 inches and I’m sure feels even flatter just due to the physics of velocity.

Speaking of velocity I am using a Faxon True Precision Barrel that I had ported to match the slots already Machined into the FDEZ werx Slide. (See pics below).

The velocity is reduced by about 2% (See video link below) when porting the Barrel, I wanted to get that information out of the way for folks who are concerned about Velocity loss associated with Barrel porting, for me this is not a concern.

The guide Rod is a DPM soft version for the DPM SIG P365XL Spectre Comp & XMacro.

This guide Rod helped with timing the Slide such that I have not had even 1 failure to feed in over the approximately 1500 plus rounds I have put through it thus far.

I am also using the Tactical Development Pro Ledge for a Thumb Rest and it works beautifully to hold the new Sig FOXTROT2R weapon light.

The Trigger is a MCARBO adjustable that I myself was skeptical about in the beginning but my God were my concerns dissuaded, I love this Trigger!!!

I did also opt for the MCARBO Trigger kit and the big difference here is in the 20% plus Stricker Spring and the marked difference in tactile feel, you won’t be disappointed.

The new Sig Weapon light FOXTROT2R was recently named best on Market due to its 20k Candela (in the 1st 10 minutes) and the Pro ledge holds it tight with no worries of it shaking loose while dumping mags.

The Optic is the HOLOSUN HS507kx2 is an excellent direct installation with no plates or gimmicks to get it to fit and it works perfectly and stays put even with the blasts the Ported Faxon is throwing at it (See pic below).

The mags were a bit if a challenge due to living in a restricted capacity state. Why do I say this?

The XMACRO grip module is most easily used with 15 or 17 round mags as far as fitment but a way to make this function as designed is to use the Tactical Development mag base which takes a 10 round restricted magazine and extends it to fit perfectly within the XMACRO by extending the Magazine.

To make sure your getting the correct Sig Magazine that will work properly with the Mag extension use the link to get the 10 round restricted Mag (if you live in a restricted capacity State)

Basically make sure your using the 10 round Magazine with the Restriction dimple
and the Tactical Development bases should work perfectly.

They did for me using the above formula.

Note: the Tactical Development mag bases DO NOT extend the amount of ammo in the mag but rather extend the length of the Magazine so it will fit in the XMACRO grip module.

So did I achieve the goal of a flat shooting P365?

YES…… this thing is so much fun to shoot at the range.

It shoots flat and performs like no other, if you are the type who likes to tame your ponies, this is the proper path. To demonstrate watch this video as its pretty close to this build.

The porting (in concert with a XXL Comped slide) has the gas explosion pushing the gun down, while the recoil is flipping the gun upward, thus canceling each other out.

The next move is to get the Sig Sauer P365 AXG Lower with Brass Grip Panels from LOC (because it will add the necessary weight) to reduce any further recoil or resistance left in this little Big Gun.

Once I recieve the AXG Frame and Brass Grips, I will update and report back the difference the ergonomic and weight difference.

Since this writing I have upgraded to the AXG Frame with Brass Loc G10’s and wow what a perfect combo.

Next venture is a complete Shalotek Warden Slide and the eventual upgrade to the Shalotek R17 Grip Module, I will create an entire writing for that build (Coming soon).

Oh also you will notice in the Picture below that the Thumb Rest (Takedown is now different than the Tactical Development, it’s a Black Steel takedown Thumb Rest and its absolutely incredible.
